Butcombe and bangers

November 2, 2018

If you’re planning a trip to a firework display this bonfire night but haven’t decided yet where to go, we’ve a few suggestions that we think are worth paying a visit, and we’ve even found a pub close enough by that you can warm up in with a nice pint of Butcombe by the fire before heading home.

Cheltenham

Cheltenham racecourse holds one of the biggest shows around, and the Royal Oak will be providing mulled cider for the evening so you can pop in and warm up on the way there.

Sat 3 Nov,  5pm – 10pm

The Fairview Fireworks Party Cheltenham Crickets Club’s Fireworks display takes place on Fri 2nd November, and just 10 mins walk from the Old Restoration it’s the perfect spot to meet up beforehand. There’s even a no bangs display for the kids before the main display later on.

Fri 2 Nov, 5.30pm

Malmesbury

The Malmesbury Fireworks once again takes place at St Aldhelm’s Mead. The Smoking Dog will be ready with their own fire burning (of the cosy sit by the fire in the pub type) and will be ready and waiting for you after the smoke has gone out at the display.

Sat 3 Nov from 6pm–8.30pm

Bridgwater

Bridgwater has a busy weekend with Fireworks taking place at St Matthew Field on Friday 2nd, and the Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival on Saturday 3rd. The Carnival is possibly the largest winter carnival in the UK and draws a massive crowd from across the country to see the spectacular illuminated floats. Why not make a weekend of it and stay the Bower Inn and take in the whole experience over both days. https://www.bridgwatercarnival.org.uk/

Fri 2nd Nov 7.30pm and Sat 3rd Nov entertainment from 10am, and carnival from 7pm

Corsham

Neston Fireworks Night is back (and so is the bonfire!) . Held at Neston Recreation Ground, we’re told that parking is limited so not why meet at The Methuen and car share from there. If you’ve never been to The Methuen we’re pretty sure you’ll love it in there.

Sat 3rd November, gates open 5pm. Bonfire at 6pm. Fireworks at 7pm.

Bath

Bath Rotary Club’s Fireworks Display takes place once again at The ‘Rec’ in the heart of Bath. Only a short walk to the Pig and Fiddle for some warming mac n cheese.

3rd November at 5.30pm. Display at 7pm

Weston Super Mare

Weston-Super-Mare are spoilt for choice with not one, but three fireworks displays this November. The Cricket Club Rugby Club Fireworks on Friday, The Rugby Club on the Saturday and then Fireworks at Sea on 17th. Make a stop at The Woolpack before getting on the M5 to avoid all the queues to get home, or start your evening early and stop by for a pint on the way.

Weston Super Mare Cricket Club – 3rd Nov 5.30pm – 11pm

Weston Super Mare RFC Firework Extravaganza – 4th Nov from 5.30pm

Grand Pier – 17th Nov 7pm-10pm
