Pump up the volume and turn up the bass, (bit old school there…) Independent Venue Week is here and we’re giving a massive shout out to the Butcombe pubs that are doing their bit to support all kinds of up and coming artists and bands.
The Frog and Fiddle is hands down one of the most atmospheric venues in Cheltenham bringing the best live music to all since 1998, with it’s exposed brick walls and stripped wooden floors it has a classic, rustic feel… From Punk rock and blues to melodic metalcore, the Frog is guaranteed to have a gig that is right up your street. With events every week, great beer, great prices and great artists, the Frog is an epic venue that will guarantee a great night.
The Hatchet is Bristol’s oldest pub with a varied and colourful history. Dating back to 1606, its name is inspired by the woodsmen of the nearby Clifton Wood, and the pub has been home for all sorts throughout the centuries, from cock-fighting rings to bare-knuckle boxing, as well as hosting famous regulars like the pirate Blackbeard. With it’s prime location the Hatchet is now one of the top venues in Bristol for live music, including their well known RE:UP alternative party every first Saturday of the month.
Whatever genre of music takes your fancy independent venues give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience and for fans, somewhere to get up close to artists that one day, may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages.
After all, there’s only one thing better than beer, live music and beer…
