It’s our birthday! We are proud to be 40 years old today, so we thought we’d give you 40 Butcombe related facts in celebration. Let us know your favourite fact!

  2. Simon Whitmore was famous locally for driving his yellow Renault 4 car
  3. The Brewery moved to its current home in Wrington 12 years ago in 2006
  4. A lot of people don’t know we are actually named after a place (Butcombe, obviously) – and we’re now just 2 miles from the original site.
  5. The first beer we brewed was Butcombe Bitter and was the only beer we brewed for 18 years. It’s now called Original… Why? Because it’s the original!

  13. Gold used to be brewed under the name Wilmot’s (named after the first ever brewer, which strangely wasn’t actually our founder Simon Whitmore)
